The regular session of the Board of Collaboration of Social Work specialists was held on the 10th September 2014. The participants of meeting were informed about the organization procedure of the contest \u201cThe best Social Worker of Latvia 2014\u201d and the final closing venue.
\nThe representatives from the Ministry of Welfare invited to support this event and participate in the gala event- Social Worker\u2019s Conference, organized by SWA, on the 13th November 2014.
\nThe regional methodical meeting will start on the 14th September. The discussion will be held on changes of social assistance, contemporary problems, amendments to the Social Services and Social Assistance Law and social work development of Social Services. The problematic issues of long term social rehabilitation care will be discussed during the meeting.
\nLong discussion occurred regarding planned activities in the context of the ESF.
\nThe Ministry of Welfare offers several theme blocks:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. the Quality of Management System of Social Services;<\/li>\n
  2. professional development and supervision;<\/li>\n
  3. informative and methodological support;<\/li>\n
  4. evaluation from the perspective of the client and the social worker and<\/li>\n
  5. community social work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The attendants were discussed about the requirements for supervisors, who would win in a procurement procedure and to provide service of good quality. As it was stated by participants of meeting, the predominant type of supervision is phenomenon of pedagogy and art therapy direction (presently there are 18 certified supervisors who would be involved in this project).
    \nThe biggest uncertainty is about community social work. The EC would like to see the measures that should be focused on the client – highly effective and specific in order to improve the well-being of the client. In accordance to this issue there was a proposal to create a complex of activities: to develop preventative measures for 9 target groups, improve institutional cooperation, to develop social entrepreneurship.
