{"id":192,"date":"2019-08-10T18:20:33","date_gmt":"2019-08-10T18:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.socialwork.lv\/en\/?p=192"},"modified":"2019-08-10T18:21:06","modified_gmt":"2019-08-10T18:21:06","slug":"the-2nd-meeting-of-the-social-work-specialists-cooperation-council-of-the-ministry-of-welfare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.socialwork.lv\/en\/the-2nd-meeting-of-the-social-work-specialists-cooperation-council-of-the-ministry-of-welfare\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2nd meeting of the Social Work Specialists Cooperation Council of the Ministry of Welfare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On June 26, 2019, Linda Ozola, the chairwomen of the board of the Social Workers&#8217; Association, attended the 2nd meeting of the Social Work Specialists Cooperation Council of the Ministry of Welfare<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, Ilze Kurme, Head of ESF Project \u201cDevelopment of Professional Social Work in Local Governments\u201d informed about the project news: The first edition of this year&#8217;s &#8220;Social Work in Latvia&#8221; has been issued, the next one is scheduled for September; Work on a methodology for dealing with persons with mental disabilities has been completed but the terminology needs to be harmonized and will be published in September; Seminars for leaders of social services will be organized to raise their awareness of the introduction of working methods for families with children e.o.<br \/>\nIlze Skrodele-Dubrovska, Director of the Methodical Management and Control Department of the Ministry of Welfare, informed that work on a new social work support policy has been started (for the next programming period). Once the new policy matrix is in place, the Ministry of Welfare will organize a brainstorming session for professionals.<br \/>\nCouncil members discussed the idea of social work specialization and compliance with the current labor market and social demands of society. Participants also brought up the issue of unequal social workers basic education, for example, the education system allows to obtain the social work master&#8217;s degree without base of social work education and qualify for work with the cases without knowledge of social work methods and tools. Also other social work education issues were discussed.<br \/>\nDaiga Muktup\u0101vela, Senior Expert of the Methodological Management and Control Department, informed about the summer school for social workers and heads of social services, supported financially and organizationally by the Ministry of Welfare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On June 26, 2019, Linda Ozola, the chairwomen of the board of the Social Workers&#8217; Association, attended the meeting of the Social Services Development Council of the Ministry of Welfare<\/strong><br \/>\nSpecialists from the Ministry of Welfare informed about current developments in the process of deinstitutionalisation, as well as other ESF-funded projects aimed at persons with mental disabilities.<br \/>\nIlze Kurme, head of the ESF project \u201cProfessional Development of Social Work in Local Governments\u201d informed about the plans of the pilot project of the Family Assistant service.
