The Board of Collaboration of Social Work Professionals of the Welfare Ministry, (The Board), occurred on the 25th March 2014. The meeting attendees were informed about the activities of the political document “The Fundamental Guidelines of Professional Social Work Development 2014 – 2020”. The information was provided by the Director of Social Inclusion and Social Work Department of Welfare Ministry, Ilze Skrodele-Dubrovska and professional Dace Zvirgzdina.

Informers emphasised three activities which are planned to be carried out:

1. Methodology courses for social service superiors and social work specialists (commences sometime in September);
2. The Summer School for social workers as workshops, seminars from 24th July until 25th July.
3. To continue to organize the competition for, “The best Social Worker”.

During the meeting several amendments of law in terms of correct and precise terminology were accepted; – The Law of Local Government and Social Service and Social Assistance Law.

The representatives from the Welfare Ministry informed The Board about the Credit Granting Commission’s decision to repay a study loan from the state budget for 37 Social Workers. The Board also stressed the necessity to develop and improve granting principles for state financial budgeting.
