Continuing education possibilities for Social Work specialists

The session of Subcomission of Social Security of Social and Work Affairs commission of Saema took place on the 26th February 2013. During the session issues in regards of continuing education possibilities for Social Work specialists were discussed. Chairman of SWA, Martins Moors, participated in this session as well as many representatives from higher education establishments, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Welfare.
Representatives from the Welfare Ministry informed the meeting participants about concerted efforts to complete the different strategic documents. The Ministry of Welfare put forward, as a priority, the need to formulate seven methodical guidelines in working with different client groups. These client groups were:-

  • substance and gambling abuse;
  • pre-retirement age;
  • aggressive and violence abuse;
  • long-term unemployment;
  • families with children, including children with learning disabilities;
  • long –term social support receivers;
  • Juveniles with behaviour disorders, truants and unemployed.
