The meeting of the Ministry of Social Welfare Working group with agenda ‘Review of Social Worker’s Code of Ethics’
The meeting took place on January 17, 2018.
Sandra Darkevica, who is the member of the board of SWA, participated in this meeting, which started to update The Code of Ethics of social workers in Latvia. The Methodological Management and Control department organized the meeting.
The Departament of Welfare and Social Work of Riga Stardini University has prepared a draft Code of ethical principles, norms and values. The professional documents of other countries were taken into account and working group discussed the title and binding nature of the updated Code of Ethics. Participants considered issues that not regulated by the current Code of Ethics. As the result of discussion, working group put forward idea that it is necessary to develop a procedure how to implement Code as well as use in practice.
