The meeting of the Ministry of Social Welfare Council of Cooperation of Social Work specialists on December 20, 2017
The Council discussed a number of important issues in social work field.
1. The need to update the Code of Ethics for social workers; ethical principles, values and norms; ethical qualities of social worker; ethical guidelines for professional conduct of employees.
It was said that the Code of Ethics should be updated as much as possible from the needs of practice. The Ministry of Welfare plans to create a working group that will meet regularly and the first meeting is on January 10 or 17, 2018.
1. The Deputy Director, Ilze Skrodele Dubrovska , informs about the latest updates of ‘The Standard of the Social Worker’ s profession’.
2. The senior expert of the Ministry of Welfare, Agnese Jurjane, informs about The Social Welfare Council regulations and its representatives. The first draft of regulations has been drawn up. By January 5, an opinions and suggestions should be submitted.
3. Ilze Kurme informs about actualities in the project ‘ The development of professional social work in municipalities’:
The approach to the supervision is changed by amendments of the Cabinet of Ministry regulations.
The Ministry of Welfare concluded a contract with Zelda in order to develop methodology how to work with people with mental disorders.
The Ministry of Welfare will have contracts to work out methodology how to deal with problem of violence and how to work with families with children.
The discussion about workload will take a place on February 21, 2018.
The conference ‘Competence and education’ is planned on March 23, 2018.
The announcement of tender to work out The Dictionary of Social Work.
There is an opportunity to support the development of The Social Work Theory book.
4. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the regulations for subsidies for social workers working with families and children.
