On November 8, 2024, Latvian Association of Social Workers Conference: Solutions for Supporting Children and Youth
On November 8, 2024, the annual conference of the Latvian Association of Social Workers, titled “Comprehensive Solutions in Social Work with Children and Youth: From Out-of-Home Care to Community Work”, took place. The event gathered around 280 participants and was held in a hybrid format – in person at Katoļu Street 22/24, Riga, and online via the Zoom platform. The conference aimed to explore and promote effective approaches to social work with children and youth, with a particular focus on the transition from out-of-home care to independent living in the community.
Participants discussed various topics, including the challenges of out-of-home care, the importance of community involvement, the problem of early school leaving, support strategies for children with attention difficulties and their parents, , and the significance of interinstitutional cooperation. The conference featured valuable discussions and practical examples, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among social workers to ensure better support for children and youth across Latvia.
